Climate Change

The increasing release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is disrupting the climate balance of our planet, which has warmed by 1.2 degrees to date. There are two causes of climate change: ‘natural’ and ‘human-induced’. However, the changes currently occurring are due to ‘human-induced’ causes. So, what can we as individuals do about climate change?

INTERNATIONAL

CLIMPS Project

The project aims to assist Industrial Manufacturing Platforms in developing action plans against climate change, while also targeting to increase climate literacy levels, particularly among young people.

CLIMPS

International Partnership

The project was implemented with the support of the European Union by the local administrations and distinguished civil society organisations of Kocaeli in Türkiye and Mazeikiai in Lithuania. All outputs of the project can be found on this website.

About CLIMPS

CLIMPS (Twinning for 2030 Climate Change Action Plan Model in Industrial Manufacturing Platforms), funded under “Town Twinning between Turkey and EU-II (Twinning for a Green Future) Grant Scheme (TTGS-II)”, is a project that brought together two industry cities in Türkiye and Lithuania, namely Mažeikiai and Kocaeli. The main aim of the project is to develop a sustainable town twinning mechanism between Turkish and European actors to develop an effective "2030 Climate Change Action Plan" for medium and large-scale Industrial Manufacturing Platforms (IMPs) such as Organised Industrial Zones, industrial clusters, Free Zones and large-scale factories. It aims to enhance climate change adaptation in Türkiye and Lithuania through town twinning actions, fostering sustainable exchange networks among local administrations for a green industrial transition.

CLIMPS

Project Objectives

There are 5 Specific Objectives (SO) of the Project that are listed below.

Identification of the state-of-the-art situation; needs and potentials of IMPs regarding adaptation to climate change in partner cities and countries.

Within the framework of Strategic Planning Approach; Capacity Building for Industrial Manufacturing Platforms to reduce their impact on climate change and prepare for adverse conditions of climate change-related events for their operations.

Internalization of the European Union's Green Deal policy by industrial manufacturing platforms in different countries and sharing of knowledge and experience with good practices in this field.

Establishing a sustainable communication and cooperation network on "climate change and green industrial manufacturing" among project partner cities and using this network effectively for cooperation in other components of the climate change phenomenon in the long term.

Raising awareness of the society about climate change, especially young people who will be the business people, decision makers, employees, entrepreneurs and employers of the future.
